CLAREMONT, Calif. (Mar. 2, 2019) – The Caltech women's water polo team continued to compete with higher competition on the second day of the Gary Troyer Tournament, taking on Division II California State University, Monterrey Bay and Division I Siena University back-to-back.

Game 1: CSU Monterrey Bay 28, Caltech 6

Caltech put up a season-best three goals in the first quarter of the first Saturday game. Senior Katie Johnston (Livermore, Calif. / Livermore) got Caltech on the board with an unassisted tally at just under the five-minute mark. Senior teammate Brittany Percin (Lake Tahoe, Calif. / Stanford Online), making her season debut after a successful run at the SCIAC Swimming & Diving Championships last weekend then scored her first goal of the season later in the quarter. Percin connected with Johnston on Caltech's third goal towards the end of the quarter and both players went on to score one more time each. Percin finished with a well-rounded line of two goals, two assists and four steals while Johnston led Caltech with three goals and 11 total shots. Senior Hana Keller (Sammamish, Wash. / Tesla STEM) also scored for Caltech about half-way through the second quarter.
