Late Goals Help Propel Leopards

LA VERNE, CA – The La Verne men's soccer team scored a handful of late goals to break open a tight contest in posting a 4-0 win over Caltech on Wednesday evening.

The home standing Leopards scored in the 22nd minute when Nathan Gonzalez found the back of the net. Evren Gokcen and Marec Serlin each put a shot goal on moments later for the Beavers but David Lopez denied the attempts.

Coming out of halftime the Leopards put a handful shots on net put the combination of J.D. Feist in goal and solid defense kept the Beavers within striking distance. Caltech had an opportunity to tie the game in the 63rd minutes but Alec Sands' blast was blocked away.

La Verne put to rest any hopes of a Caltech comeback as they scored three goals in a nine minute stretch. Joshua Hill started the scoring with a strike in the 71st minute. Ko Yajima and Fernando Alemjo tallied goals in the 78th and 80th minute to round out the scoring.

Feist had another solid game in front of the net as he made a career high 15 saves.

Caltech returns home on Saturday when they host Pomona-Pitzer at 4 p.m.
