Worked in lab of Dr. Jerry Shay on telomere biology for the UTSW Medical Center in Summer 2019...Project investigated the role of NIP45 in the formation of ALT-associated PML bodies (APBs) and telomere extension in ALT cancer...Determined that NIP45 binds to SUMO1 and that its knockdown impairs the ALT phenotype, meaning it may be crucial to the ALT pathway with regards to APB formation and recruitment (to be published)...Led team of GHCHS underclassmen to plan, design, construct, and market a portable, cost-efficient quantitative-PCR thermocycler and imaging unit utilizing gold nanocluster technology during CNSI Nanovation Competition (2018-2019)...Worked in the lab of Dr. Michael Regnier at the UW Medical Center during Summer '18 to develop a therapy for heart failure...Investigated the effects of engineered mutations to the RRM2 subunit of human ribonucleotide reductase in order to increase dATP concentration in mouse left ventricles.
