PASADENA, Calif. – Pomona-Pitzer scored the last eight of the game's final 10 points to complete their second half comeback in a 51-47 win over Caltech in the women's basketball conference opener for each team.

Caltech (0-12, 0-1) held a 12-0 advantage less than five minutes into the game. The Beaver never let their lead get away in the first half but Pomona-Pitzer (3-9, 1-0) chipped away and dwindled their deficit down to five points (28-23) at the halftime buzzer.
Undaunted by the Sagehens halftime momentum, Caltech scored the first seven points of the second half in taking a 37-25 advantage with 15:05 left in the game. Slowly but surely the Pomona-Pitzer worked their deficit into single digits. A pair of Vanessa Ho free throws with 6:49 remaining brought the Caltech lead down to 43-40.
Marlyn Moore scored a back door lay-up off a Krissy Dahl feed which gave the Beavers a 47-43 advantage with 3:48 left in the contest. It was the last field goal of the evening for the home team. A Ho jumper with 2:47 left knotted the score at 47-47. Then Ho nailed a pair of foul shots with 47 seconds left to complete the Sagehens comeback in giving them a 49-47 lead.
After a Lishi Li turnover on Caltech's ensuing possession, Emily Van Gulik all but sealed the win with a lay-up with 15 remaining. Dahl hit two free throws with seven second remaining but the Sagehens were able to inbound the ball and run the clock out.
Dalh led all scorers with a 15 point night while grabbing a team high nine rebounds. Li also posted a double figure scoring night with an 11-point effort.
