THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – Cal Lutheran jumped out early and never trailed in posting a 86-32 win over Caltech in a SCIAC women's basketball contest at Gilbert Arena.
The Regals (13-10, 7-5) held Caltech to one made field in their first 12 attempts. During that opening stretch Cal Lutheran built a 19-4 lead with 7:21 left until halftime. The home squad held a lead as large as 28 points before taking a 38-12 edge into the locker room.
During the opening 20 minutes, the Regals took advantage of 21 Caltech (0-23, 0-12) turnovers as they held a 23-0 edge in points of off turnovers.
Cal Lutheran continued to pour it on in the second frame as they went 17-of-32 (53.1 percent) from the field as they cruised to the win.
Paige Logan and Teri Juarez played well under the board as the duo grabbed 11 and 10 rebounds respectively.
The Cal Lutheran bench provided 62 of the team's 86 points with the senior Donielle Griggs and freshman Julia Cratty both notching career-highs on the night. Griggs went 10-of-13 during her career best effort. Cratty contributed a career-high 13 points on 6-of-8 shooting from the floor in only 10 minutes of action.
