PASADENA (July 24, 2019) – The Caltech women's basketball team, coming off its best season in the history of the program, has released its schedule for the 2019-20 season set to begin in November.
Caltech will open the regular season on Saturday, Nov. 16 when it hosts the University of St. Katherine at 2 p.m. The Beavers will look to begin the season on a positive note, having defeated the Firebirds five times in the previous three seasons. Caltech will continue its homestand when it faces the California Miramar University on Tuesday, Nov. 19 at 6:30 p.m. before taking on the University of California, Santa Cruz the following Saturday at 4 p.m. for the two teams' second meeting in three years. Caltech is then set to host Willamette University on Thanksgiving Eve at 2 p.m. before playing host to Bard College in the Pasadena-hosted portion of the 2019 Thanksgiving Classic. The Beavers will play their first away game of the season the following day for the Occidental College-hosted slate of games where they will rematch Bethesda University following last year's opening day win.
December has five games in store for the women's basketball team, three of which will be at home. After traveling to Eagle Rock for the final game of November, Caltech will host Oxy in the SCIAC opener on Wednesday, Dec. 4 at 7 p.m. The Beavers split with the Tigers last season, and this year's opening contest will not be one to miss as both teams vie for conference momentum. Caltech will next travel to Chapman University on Saturday, Dec. 4 before making the trip to Cal Miramar for a rematch from the previous month on Tuesday, Dec. 17. The Beavers will retake the court following a short break when they host North Central College on Sunday, Dec. 29 at 2 p.m. before playing host to Worcester Polytechnic Institute on New Year's Eve at 2 p.m.
From January onward, the women's basketball team will play all of its games exclusively in the SCIAC. Caltech will open its conference slate at the University of La Verne on Saturday, Jan. 4 and will remain on the road to face Whittier College on Wednesday, Jan. 8. Last year, The Beavers split with the Poets in a pair of games decided by five points or less and won their first game over Whittier in more than a decade. Caltech will return home on Saturday, Jan. 11 when it hosts Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges at 4 p.m. in the second game of a back-to-back with the men's team. The women will next host California Lutheran University on Wednesday, Jan. 15 at 7 p.m. before traveling to the University of Redlands on the following Saturday. The Beavers will remain on the road for two more games, first traveling to Claremont to meet Pomona-Pitzer Colleges on Wednesday, Jan. 22 before rematching Oxy in Eagle Rock Saturday, Jan. 25. Caltech will wrap the month with one more home contest when it hosts Whittier on Wednesday, Jan. 29 at 7 p.m.
The Beavers will open the final month of the season with the University of La Verne on Saturday, Feb. 1 at 4 p.m. in the annual Orange Out game before hitting the road to meet CMS at Roberts Pavilion on Saturday, Feb. 8. Caltech will host a back-to-back beginning with the Sagehens on Wednesday, Feb. 12 at 7 p.m. and ending with Redlands on Saturday, Feb. 15., also set for a 7 p.m. tip-off. The women's basketball team will play one more game on the road at Cal Lutheran on Wednesday, Feb. 19 before wrapping the 2019-20 season with Chapman back home on Saturday, Feb. 22 in the annual Senior Day game.
The SCIAC Postseason Tournament is scheduled to begin on Thursday, Feb. 27 for the conference's top four teams.
