PASADENA (Nov. 16, 2019) – Freshman Sahana Saikumar (Arcadia, Calif. / Arcadia) of the Caltech women's basketball team put forth another strong scoring performance against Life Pacific College on Wednesday evening.
The freshman forward netted 23 points, matching her total from the previous game on 33-percent shooting from the field. Saikumar also pulled down a team-high 12 rebounds, including nine on the defensive end. Saikumar was not the only Beaver to come away from Wednesday's contest with a double-double, however. Senior forward Alexa Lauinger (Ortonville, Mich. / Brandon) picked up the first double-double of her career, scoring 11 points to go with 10 rebounds.
Collectively, Wednesday's game showed a marked improvement at the free throw line with the Beavers shooting just under 79-percent. Additionally, the Beavers and Warriors remained close throughout the entirety of the game. Neither team outscored the other by more than three points in each of the first three quarters with the game tied at 48 heading into the final frame.
Head Coach Bridgette Reyes and the Beavers will aim to secure their first win of the season when they host the University of California, Santa Cruz on Saturday, Nov. 23 at 4 p.m.
