OJAI, Calif. -- Four members of the Caltech women's tennis team competed at the 112 Annual Ojai Valley Tournament.
The prestigious event is open to all California schools across all divisions. The Beavers competed in the independent division of the tournament
Rebekah Kitto posted a double-bagel win over Karlie Foerstel from the Master's College to post Caltech's first ever single victory in the event. Kitto lost her next match in the round of 32 to seventh seeded Jordan Kimua from Concordi 6-3, 6-1.
Wubing Ye and Stephanie Kwan also participated in the event. Ye dropped a 6-3, 6-1 first round decision to Hope International's Jasmin Zaragoza while Kwan fell to Chapman's Sphia Doung 6-3, 6-0; also in the first round.
During double competition the duo of Kitto and Michelle Lee teamed together for first time in 2012. They lost their opening match in the round of 32 to Erika Januskova and Anna Mikhaylova from Fresno Pacific.
The team season concludes next weekend at the SCIAC Championships hosted by Cal Lutheran. The Beavers enter the tournament as the seventh seed and will play second seed Pomona-Pitzer. The event begins on Friday morning.
