PASADENA (June 4, 2019) – The Caltech volleyball team has unveiled its schedule for the 2019 season, which will consist of 13 home contests, three tri-matches and a doubleheader.
The Beavers return to their home floor with the first tri-match of the season when they host Life Pacific College and Providence Christian College on Friday, August 30. Last year, the Beavers split the tri-match with a win over the Sea Beggars, but will be looking to exact some revenge on Life Pacific after a 3-2 defeat. The Beavers will then host an exhibition with Westcliff University the very next day before kicking off a three-match road stint. Caltech will travel to the University of St. Katherine on Saturday, Sept. 7, where they will meet the Firebirds for the first time of the season and also rematch the Sea Beggars who are also scheduled to be in San Marcos. Caltech will conclude the road stint at West Coast Baptist University on Tuesday, Sept. 10, a team against which the Beavers have taken care of business against in the past.
The Caltech women will continue their busy month of September back home against Marymount University on Friday, Sept. 13 at 6 p.m before facing off with the University of Antelope Valley for two matches on the road the very next day. From there, the Beavers will kick off SCIAC play back in Pasadena against Whittier College at 7 p.m. before hitting the road for a 2 p.m. match with Chapman University the next day. Caltech will conclude September the following weekend, first when they host Pomona-Pitzer Colleges on Friday, Sept. 27 before making a short trip to Eagle Rock to face Occidental College on Saturday at 4 p.m.
Head Coach Tom Gardner and the Beavers open up the month of October with a 7 p.m. home match against the University of Redlands on the first of the month before they test themselves at defending SCIAC champion Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges on Friday, Oct. 4. Caltech will next host the University of La Verne on Saturday, Oct. 5 at 7 p.m. before facing SCIAC runner-up California Lutheran University on the road the following Tuesday. The volleyball team will then take a short break from conference competition when it hosts its final two non-conference matches of the season. The Beavers will first face Mills College on Saturday, Oct. 12 at 1 p.m. before turning around to rematch a tough St. Katherine team at 5 p.m.
